Twins and Mary Poppins

Last Saturday, Joe and I took Leah to her first (and last) TWINS game at the Metrodome. We sat in general admission. Leah chose the seats- 2nd to last row. She wanted to be by the "big t.v." She loved the Mascot (TC bear) who was riding a 4-wheeler and at a good distance from where we were sitting! She got peanuts, chips, and M&Ms! She had a great time, but I think it was more the atmosphere than it was the baseball game!

On Sunday, my mom and I took Leah to "Mary Poppins" at the Orpheum Theater. It started at 6:30pm and was 3 hours long. Leah did fall asleep with about 20 minutes to go. She really did enjoy the show, but fatigue overtook her! She was fascinated by the dancing and singing and really didn't take her eyes off of the stage. Her favorite part- the chimney sweepers tap dancing! Nonna even got her her own "carpet bag." When Mary Poppins started looking in her bag- so did Leah. Just adorable! She did wonder why we couldn't pick our own seats like we did at the Twins game!
When I picked her up today, she told me that she told her friends all about the Twins Game and Mary Poppins. What a weekend!

A conversation with Daddy

On Wednesday, Joe decided to take down the pictures in the "guest" bedroom to fill the holes as we prepare to change it to the "baby" room.

Leah: Why do you have to take down the pictures?
Joe: To get ready for the baby
Leah: What are you going to put on the walls?
Joe: We don't know yet
Leah: I think we should put up a picture of me, the baby will really like that.
Joe: How about we get a pretty frame and put a picture of you and the baby in it from when you come visit the baby at the hospital.
Leah: That's a good idea, Daddy, the baby will really like that.

What we've been up to...

What a crazy weeks filled with lots of fun activities.

Joe's birthday celebrations (August 30 with his family and September 4 with mine). Picture below of Joe, Great-Niece Emily, Niece Nikki, and Leah.

Leah started gymnastics and dancing (swimming comes this Saturday). LOVES both of them. Already practicing her dance moves at home.

Our good friends, Rick and Jaclyn, baptised their baby girl, Kaysee on Sunday 9/6/09. Below is Kaysee with her Godparents (Andrea, Zach and Lindsay).

Yesterday, we spent the day at the Renaissance Festival with our friends, Mike and Sara and their son, Michael. Leah and Michael had a blast- as always. We could not get Leah to ride a horse, but we did get her on the pony. After a rocky start, she really enjoyed it...even asked to go a second time. She was not a fan of the jousting show- well, it was okay until the gun shot, then she thought it was too loud and wanted to leave.

So, we have been working on getting the guest bedroom cleaned out to make room for baby. This morning I was organizing some of the stuff in that room. Leah seemed to be playing nicely by herself. She was working on an art project at the kitchen table. When I came down to check on her, I noticed some post-its on the wall. I asked her to take them down since they don't belong on the wall. She started to take them down, and I noticed some struggle, only to hear her say..."but I glued them on." YOU WHAT???? I couldn't believe it. Leah typically is not one to do such a thing. So, the glue has been put away, and she is only allowed to use it under supervision! Luckily, I did get the paper removed without a single scratch to the wall. How? Well, I used my handy dandy scrapper's delight- Un-Du. Love that stuff.

First Baby Pictures

I had a visit with the perinatologist (obstetrical subspecialist concerned with the care of the mother and fetus at higher-than-normal risk for complications) today. Just a preventative visit since Leah was a premie. During the visit, they did an ultrasound. Here are baby's first pictures (at 15 weeks)...

It was great. Joe and I were able to see the heart pumping, the blood flowing from the umbilical cord, the baby moving (a lot)-- this one likes to kick. Though it is still early, a 90% guess of a girl was predicted. We will not be sharing this info with Leah yet! She (?) measures about 4oz and 3-4 inches long.

So, the perinatologist's recommendation was that I get these weekly shots (starting about 16 weeks until 36 weeks). The shots are called 17P (a type of progesterone). The only side effect- my bum is going to be sore! There is good research that indicates that these shots prevent pre-term labor. Good news- other than the shots, it looks like I will follow with the midwives as I did last pregnancy and no other preventative measures need to be taken at this time.
