The Final Stats

We decided that Amber seemed ready to start potty training, so today we went for it full force. Into underwear she went this morning (after a trial run last evening). She started slow, but came back in the 9th! I, of course, took a picture, but thought I better not post it!:)

First day of potty training:
Tries on the potty - at minimum I would say she sat on the potty chair at least 15, maybe 20 times (with 2 trials on the real toilet)
Accidents - 3
Success - 3 (1 small #2, 2 #1)
Nap time diaper - wet

With the end of the day turning out better than the beginning of the day, I think she may be catching on. I will keep you posted as the week progresses!

Catching up - April has been busy!!

Wow, we are only half way through April and it has already been an active month, with more to come!

4/7 was spent preparing for Easter. Apparently, the Easter Bunny was doing a practice run because he visited our house in the morning. Grama Mary came over and saw him hiding the girls’ Easter baskets outside.
Later that day, while Amber was napping, we (okay I took pictures and Joe and Leah) dyed Easter eggs. Leah was much more patient this year as compared to prior years. She left the eggs in the dye much longer and she ended up with some vibrant colored eggs. After dying eggs, Leah and Joe put together a few Lego sets that Leah had received for her birthday. She had a great time doing that, not sure if it was the Legos or just spending one-on-one time with daddy, but she sure was excited to show me when I got back from running a few errands!

4/8 was spent with family and friends for Easter day. When we woke up, Leah had already been awake and had found Amber’s Easter basket which she thought was for both of them. She was very excited to find out that she had her own basket and began the search for her basket! Both girls loved their Easter treats. After baskets, we got ready for the day. Amber is now a full-fledged 2 year old… Grama Mary and Nonna bought her a beautiful Easter dress, which she refused to where on this day. She did allow a different dress which was Leah’s Easter dress (from when Leah was 3)! We made it to church, and then headed to Jim and Renate’s house (Tiffanie’s Parents) for the Easter festivities. The day included more baskets (yes, the girls got 3 Easter baskets from the Easter Bunny- wow), an Easter egg hunt (these eggs were filled with coins), chasing Amber around the house as she stole pieces of chocolate, and, of course, lots of food!

On 4/13, Joe and I celebrated our 10th anniversary. It is hard to believe that it has already been 10 years. I am lucky to have Joe, and I think he would agree, he is lucky to have me! J To celebrate, the girls stayed with my parents, and Joe and I went out with our friends, Rick and Jaclyn. We had a nice time. We went to Dick’s Last Resort at the Mall of America. Yes, it was a fun time because of company, but the food was not good and they had a mediocre band at best. So, although it was a change from the norm (they serve with sarcasm)…I doubt we will return.

On 4/14, We (my mom, Leah, Amber, and I) headed to Chippewa Falls, WI for a baby shower for my friends (who are also sisters) – Beth (due in June) and Suzy (due in August). It was so much fun to share this time with them. I am so happy for both of them. They will make excellent moms and I am excited to meet their babies when the time is right. Congrats and best wishes to the both of you!!

The time we spent in Chippewa was short as my mom, Leah and I had to be back for a play (Joe met us for a quick dinner and to take Amber home). We went to see “Giggle, Giggle, Quack” at Stages Theater with a play gang - My mom, Leah and I, my friend Jaclyn, her daughter Kaylee, and her mom, Deb. This was a very cute show and appropriate for all ages. Jaci and I were kind of bummed we didn’t take our little ones to this show. They would have enjoyed it as well.

Today, Amber had tubes put in her ears. We had to be to the hospital at 6:45, the procedure was scheduled for 8:15. I spent almost that entire time chasing Miss Amber around as she kept fleeing the room (which had a sliding door that she quickly figured out). I don’t think I need to exercise today as I certainly got in a few miles this morning! Her procedure when good, there was lots of puss drained from her ears and the tubes placed. Hopefully, she will be infection free now! She is recovering quite well. A little more mellow that normal, but still our active girl! Nothing will stop this one! J Oh, and I forgot to mention, no nap today (except for a short one in the car!

4/1/12 Joshua's Babtism

Joe and I are the proud godparents of the handsome young man, Joshua. We were so honored to be asked by our great friend, Mike and Sara, to sponsor their baby boy. We are so lucky to be a special part of his life! His baptism was held yesterday. It was a beautiful day!

4/1/12 In my sister's shoes

I remember when Leah was Amber's age, she was always putting on my shoes or Joe's shoes. Amber, well, she prefers to put on her sister's shoes. She so admires her big sis!

3/31/12 Morgan's Birthday Party

Morgan's (My good friend's daughter and Leah's friend) 6th birthday party was held on 3/31/12 at the Cambridge Fire Hall. Joe and I both had to work, so Grama Mary brought them to the party (I was able to go for the last hour). The girls had a great time! They had spray paint for hair and a jump house with a slide (Amber is fully independent in the house)! Of course cake and ice cream - which are Amber's favs! Leah is still not a fan of ice cream, and she usually takes the frosting off of the cake and just eats the cake portion which is a change from a few years ago when she would only eat the frosting! They were so worn out when I brought them home, they both fell asleep in the car.

All about Leah

Last week, Leah had quite the week! On Monday, she lost a very wiggly tooth that was being very stubbern. On Monday, she also got to "walk with the principal" at school. This is a very big honor. If a student gets a "caught being good" ticket, they are put in a drawing for this special walk. Leah was so excited that her name was drawn. She even insisted on wearing a dress to school. It is so great that the principal is associated with good behavior! Then, on Tuesday, she had a special lunch for being her class' "Super Student" of the month. Leah was exceptionally proud of this accomplishment. She is growing up!!

3/24/12 Thea's 6th Birthday Party

It is hard to believe that our niece Thea turned 6 this year. Well, it is hard to believe that Leah is 7 and that Amber is 2!! They just grow too fast. When we arrived at the party, Leah and Thea disappeared. Well, they had gone up to Thea's room. Thea had decided to change so that they would match! It is so great that they get along so well. They really do love to play with each other. We had such a gorgeous March day, and the girls got some serious outdoor playtime! A Justin Bieber pinata was beaten with a bat, presents were torn into, and cupcakes were enjoyed by all!! Happy Birthday to a very special young lady!

3/18/12 Secret Garden

Leah really enjoys going to the theater. We have season tickets to Stages Theater Company (children's shows) with some friends. We went to see "The Secret Garden." Luckily Nonna, Grandma Mary and Leah had worked on reading the story while Joe and I were on vacation. This one had a more in depth story line than the girls are used to. They did seem to enjoy it as they always do, but I don't think it was their favorite.

Swim

Both girls just finished their swimming classes on March 17. They both love to be in the water!
This was our first session with Amber. She jumped in with no fear. She did have some difficulty at the beginning of the session due to ear infections, but once those were clear, she was head in the water as much as possible!
Leah is doing so well. I am amazed at that she is already learning the butterfly and breaststroke. She seems to enjoy it, but has decided to take a break, so she can do gymnastics for a session.
