Leah got "Just Dance Kids" for the Kinect for Christmas. Well, the Xbox decided to die, so Joe had to send it to Microsoft to get it fixed. Finally, Leah was able to test it out last Friday. She had so much fun. She has asked to play it everyday since! I am amazed at how good Leah can follow along! Amber even got into it! We were surprised that the game even picked her up and gave her a score. Yup, she even managed to score some points.

January 16, 2012
So, I decided to take off January 16 (Martin Luther King Day) since Leah had the day off. My mom and I took Leah, Amber and Michael to the Mall of America. The kids started out on the rides. As always, they had a blast on the rides. Amber even went on the kiddie roller coaster for the first time (she loved it)! They got their faces painted. I took my eyes off of Amber briefly after she had her ladybug painted on her cheek (before it was dry), only to turn back to discover that she had already smeared hers!! Leah and Michael both loved their faces- and looked super cute! We ate lunch at the American Girl Store. Yes, Michael was hesitant at first, but he did come along. I think he even enjoyed it! He told me later that the food was good, and that he would eat there again! Leah always loves going to the American Girl Store. She even talked me into getting Julie's ears pierced while we were there! Amber played along as well. We had brought her bitty baby. After watching her sister with her doll, it didn't take Amber long to get the hang of trying to feed her doll at lunch. We really had a nice lunch. Then, it was off to Lego Land (Michael's request). They all had some fun playing Legos. Then, a few more rides before we started to head home! What a fun day we had.

1/7/12 Adventure Park
Leah, Amber and I met up with our friends Rebecca, Vivian and Derek on Saturday for lunch and Adventure Park. We had a fun afternoon! Leah and Vivian don't see each other often (they met 2 years ago in dance/gymnastics class). When they do get together, they are just hyper crazy. It is fun to watch them play. Amber and Derek even played some together, and I am sure they will play more together as they get older.
While at Adventure Park, Leah and Vivian ran off to do their own thing most of the time. They even got a few quarters out of us. Leah came back to me, and- all by herself - she had played the claw machine with the stuffed animals and actually got a stuffed animal! I was impressed because I usually have trouble with those things! Although, I was able to get one out as well (for Vivian)!
I stuck around Amber most of the time, but one moment she manages to "lose" me. I was looking all over for her, when I looked up and saw that she was in the climbing apparatus all by herself. I refuse to believe that she was able to do that all by herself because she is my "baby." But, she is a climber, and I should not be surprised. So, of course, I ran to get my camera. But, remember, how I mentioned we thought Joe was able to fix the camera. Well, I went to turn the camera on, and all that would happen was the lens would open/shut about 3-4 times then the camera would turn off. So, needless to say, I did not get any pictures of that moment, but again, the iphone came in handy, so I was able to get a few photos of the afternoon!
I can not be without a camera, so I went to the store after we left Adventure Park, only to find that it would be about the same price to get a new camera as it would be to get my camera fixed. So, I ended up with a new camera - and early birthday presents! Thanks Mom!!!

12/30/11 Cinderella
We were lucky enough to go to see Cinderella at the Ordway in St. Paul on 12/30/11. Leah was excited to walk around Rice Park prior to the show. She found the theater amazing. She was just thrilled to be there as she anticipated the show. Leah was a bit tired as she had a sleepover at Nonna and Grandpa's house with Thea and Delila the night before. Nonna discovered them awake and playing at 3am! She did take a rest during the day, but I did have to encourage her to stay awake during the show! She did enjoy the show, and Nonna and I also had a good evening!
12/28/11 Sugar Cookies
We have made sugar cookies at my mom's house since Leah was Amber's age (we started in 2006). This year we weren't able to do it before Christmas, but we made up for it after the holiday! My mom, Tiffanie, Thea, Delila, Leah, Amber and I all participated in the sugar cookie bake. Even though Leah and Thea are now more independent in the whole cookie peparation and decorating, their attention to these tasks is very limited. However, Delila and Amber were working on cookies from start to finish with their interest never wavering! Leah and Thea were a bit more interested in playing with their American Girl Dolls, but they also had fun making cookies! Amber was super happy when the frosting came out! I am really surprised that she did not get sick with the amount of frosting she ate! I think all the girls had a blast. I am so happy that we have this tradition, and I hope that they continue to want to do this when they are teenagers!
12/27/11 Haircuts
So, for some time now, Leah has been asking for her hair to be cut short. I needed to get my hair trimmed, so I made appointments for Leah and I. Because I didn't have anyone to watch Amber, she came with us. Leah got a super cute cut. I got my trim, and asked Sara if she thought I should have Amber's hair trimmed up. She thought it would be a good idea to trim it up, and lucky for me, she was able to do it when she finished with Leah and I. It turned out to be a good thing, because as Amber watched us get our hair cut, she kept stroking her hair while saying "my hair, my hair." So, Amber got her first haircut. Again the iphone came in handy as I did not have my camera with me (I know, shocking)! She had a blast getting her haircut and playing with the clip she took off the towel that was wrapped around her. She was smiling and laughing. It was quite adorable. Of course, I saved a locket of hair for her baby book - a cute blond curl. While Amber was getting her haircut, Leah talked my into getting a purple hair extension. I have to admit, it is cute (and it is not very obvious)! We had a fun "girls" day out!
12/26/11 Pump it Up
On Monday 12/26, my mom and I took Leah, Michael, and Amber for a night out! Perkins and Pump it up- any child's dream date! The kids were worn out! Amber still needed some help climbing up the stairs for the big slide, so I guess I got my workout in while we were there. Leah was excited that her writing teacher was there! She is not used to seeing one of her teachers outside of school. We had a great time. Well, I had a great time except for the time that I lost my balance and used my open camera to catch myself. Yup, I broke my camera. Ugh! So, thankfully I had my iphone and was able to get some pictures with that. When we got home, Joe fixed my camera - or so we thought (stay tuned for continued camera drama).
