Nickelodeon Universe - 1/23/11

Part of Leah's Christmas stocking (from Nonna and Grandpa) included an all day ride pass to Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America. Last Sunday, we (my mom, Leah, Amber, Sara, Michael and I) spent a good portion of the day at Nickelodeon Universe. Leah and Michael had a great time on the rides. Leah became more courageous on the rides and tried some more adventuresome rides. I was very impressed since she is my cautious child. I was also impressed that there were no tears when we passed Sponge Bob, however, she did veer closer to me. When asked if she wanted her picture with him, NO couldn't have come out of her mouth fast enough! With her last choice for a ride, she was insistent on going on the little train. Why, you ask, well, she really wanted to go on a ride with Amber. She thought Amber would really like to go on a ride. I hope she is always looking out for her little sister!

Babe, The Sheep Pig - 1/22/11

My mom, Leah, and I along with friends- Jaci, Deb, Kaylee and Paris - went to see "Babe, The Sheep Pig" at the Minneapolis Children's Theatre. It was very good. We have season tickets, this was our 3rd show. I have to say that I have liked all of them, but so far this one was my favorite, and, I think, it was Leah's favorite as well. She has been mimicking the "pig" regularly...quite hilarious! The show was very funny, but with a great meaning. Great show - enjoyable for all ages!

Another, seriously, how is this even comfortable?

MLK Jr.

So, I forgot to post this when it happened last Friday, but I don't want to forget it. I know that I have already forgotten some of the wording that was used, but this is the conversation in the car Friday evening when I picked the girls up from daycare.

Leah said to me after I asked her what she learned in school..."you know before I was born there was this man named Martin Lurther King. He helped people. How would you feel if I got to go to school and you didn't? Well, you wouldn't like that, would you. How would you feel if you were told where to sit on the bus? You wouldn't like it, would you. Well, he helped them. And, you know what, someone shot him and killed him."

Wow, I guess she was paying attention at school!

Catching up on the last few weeks!

Monday 12/27/10: Joe and Leah went on a "date." Lunch at Applebees followed by the Disney Movie Tangled. They both had a great time. Joe even liked the movie. Leah was a bit scared by the movie which is not surprising as she tends to get scared easily especially when watching movies on the big screen. She enjoyed it though, because she talked about it for days!

Tuesday 12/28/10: Leah and I went sledding with Sara and Michael. There is this great hill that is about 15 minutes from our house (just around the block from where I work). Leah loves this hill, and she has been asking to go to it since it first snowed. Finally the weather was nice and we had the time. It was great that Sara and Michael were able to join us! The kids had a great time. But there was just one incident. Leah has been having some difficulty listening/hearing us lately. So, I went over the rules with her...slide down the hill, get out of the way, walk up the side of the hill...at least 5 times. In fact, one time I even brought her to the car to go over the rules again without distraction. Well, to sum up the story... she was taken out be a little boy on a sled. Totally her fault. She was zoning out and standing right to the side of a mogul that had been built into the hill. I was yelling for her to move, other kids were yelling for her to move, but, alas, she did not move. Maybe she learned her lesson?!? She did talk about it a lot and I am sure we will be back!

Friday 12/31/10 - 1/1/11: Joe and I were able to spend New Year's Eve with my great friend Beth and her fiance, Rob. Thanks Mom and Dad for watching the girls -even if there was that one incident that caused Mom to bring Amber to the ER...thought she swallowed a tack from a chair, luckily no tack!;). We had such a great night, dinner at Old Chicago, followed by ACME Comedy Club. It was fun to be out with friends, also fun to laugh a bit!

Saturday 1/8/11: Sara and I brought Michael, Leah and Amber to Chuck E Cheese. We didn't see Michael for most of the time we were there (except for lunch), but, Leah, well, she was hanging around the table a lot. It didn't dawn on me until later why...she is still afraid of Chuck E Cheese. I think that she was worried that he would show up when she wasn't paying attention. Every time they did announce his arrival, she came running back to the table almost in tears. I thought that this phobia was getting better, but now I am not so sure. I hope some day that she won't be so scared around people in full costume. Michael won the ticket lottery. From reports from parents standing by, the ski ball machine he was playing just started malfunctioning and spewed out all the remaining tickets. He ended up with over 700 tickets which got him a gum ball machine. I asked him for some numbers, but he just smiled at me!

Amber has been up to so much the last month. I will catch you up on her monthly post. But her is a little clip of her climbing the stairs!
