Amber's Babtism

We had Amber Babtized on Sunday. The ceremony itself was a little disappointing as there were 11 children babtized and it felt a little more like a production versus being intimate and personal. Luckily, we had many family and friends to share the moment with us to help make the day as special as it is meant to be. Amber's day was beautiful and I thank those who helped make it so special. The gown she is wearing was worn by my Dad, my Uncle Tim, my brother Dan, myself and Leah. Unfortunately, it needs to be retired now as it has worn out!

Leah's Preschool Graduation

Last Friday, Leah had her preschool graduation/spring concert. It was a hoot. Each class did a few numbers (toddlers, preschool 1 and preschool 2), then they had the graduation ceremony followed by a little number from the graduates. Leah was so proud. It was way too cute.

Since my last post...

My cousin Emily and her husband Erik welcomed a beautiful baby boy named Ty into this world! Big sisters Anna and Taylor are said to be loving on him!

Joe, Mary (Joe's mom), and I went to see Brooks and Dunn - Last Rodeo.

We celebrated Delila's (my niece) 2nd birthday.

I went back to work. :( I am surviving, but it is hard to be back to work when I have been getting used to spending more time with my girls!

Amber is doing well at daycare. They say she rarely fusses and loves to smile.

Leah had pictures for dance yesterday. Wow, did she look grown up with her hair up in a bun and makeup on her face.

Amber is sleeping through the night!! Of the last 5 nights, she has only gotten up in the middle of the night 1 time. She has been going to bed around 9pm and sleeping until morning! Go Amber! It really stinks in the morning when I have to leave for work that I have to actually wake her up. At least when I wake her up, she is not fussy.

Today Amber is 3 months old!

Leah still loves being big sister. She even wants to "watch" her- meaning that when I have to do something in a different room, Leah tells me that she can take care of Amber. So darn cute.

Leah loves to go to her swim class, dance class, and gymnastics class. She says she likes gymnastics best.

Amber is getting so strong...she is able to press herself up when on her tummy, and she is trying to pull herself into a sitting position when she is being held.

Amber looks so much like Joe-- She is his "mini me"

Oh no!

So, yesterday morning I woke up hearing commotion in the bathroom. I figured that I better go check Leah because it was too much noise to just be going potty. Sure enough, I found her like this...
Now, of course, I was a little upset, but also a little surprised. She is 5 years old and this is the first time she has played with my make-up. So, funny thing was, before I even had the opportunity to scold her, she started to cry. Maybe she thought I would feel bad/sorry for her??!! I just sent her to her room and told her not to come out until it was clean. Unfortunately that did not work, and Joe and I still had to remind her many times to clean her room. It did get done, but took most of the morning!
Can't believe how big Amber is getting. 12 weeks tomorrow! Here is her showing off some great head strength!

Leah's first concert

Leah and I went to the Taylor Swift "Fearless Tour" concert last night at the Xcel Center in St. Paul. Opening acts were Gloriana and Kellie Pickler.

Joe made a great t-shirt for Leah to try to get spotted for upgraded seats or backstage passess by a local radio station, unfortunately it did not get spotted. However, it will be a great keepsake for her to remember her first concert!

Leah had a great time...after getting over fatigue (we did try to get her to take a nap), and getting ear plugs. When Gloriana started, she immediately plugged her ears and said that it was too loud. I sent Joe a text to say that we might have a problem. He told me that I should be able to get some plugs there, and, sure enough, I was able to get some at Guest Services. Leah lost one of the plugs at the beginning of Taylor, and then she took out the second one later in the show. I guess she just had to get used to it

She spent the first part of the show taking everything in, but by the second half, she was getting into it by waving her glow stick and singing along. We had awesome seats on the first level, straight back from the stage which was on the opposite end of the floor. We lucked out, though, and she had a small stage on the floor nearest to us, and, when she was on that stage, we were only about 75 feet away from her. She also sang a song in the aisle of one section and was only 3 sections over from us, so again we were able to see her well. Another bonus, we were sitting in row 11, but our seats were just above the entrance to the floor, so there were only 3 rows in front of us which made seeing for Leah much better!

Leah told me after the show that her favorite song was "Love Story" and her favorite dress was the pink one (it is more of a maroon color) that she wore during love story. It is the old fashion dress pictured below.

I must say that it is a small world. Leah dropped one of her ear plugs under the seat in front of her, so I asked the person sitting there if she would mind getting it for us. When she looked back, I said- "you look very familiar." It just so happened that we graduated from high school together. Another note, when Taylor was singing in the crowd, she was walking back to the stage, and we saw Abby - a friend of Leah's from school!

Leah was exhausted, and it did not take long for her to fall asleep once we got into the car. She had a great first concert!

Michigan

Last weekend we went to Michigan to visit Grandpa Shorty. We spent 13 hours in the car Friday, then spent 2 days visiting, then 13 hours in the car on Monday! The girls were awesome travelers. Leah sat in the 3rd row with her own cooler of snacks and DVD player as well as a backpack of activities. She entertained herself almost the entire way there and back. Amazing for a 5 year old. She definitely has a new favorite movie- She watched "Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squeakquel" over and over again. Occasionally, she threw in "Scooby Doo Goes Hollywood" to mix it up. Amber slept almost the entire way there and back, waking primarily when it was time to eat.

Leah enjoyed spending time with Grandpa Shorty, swimming in the hotel pool and feeding the fish at Cabela's. Amber had her first introduction to a pool and really seemed to enjoy it- of course, that is, until it was time to eat. This girl has no buffer- when it is time to eat- it is TIME to eat! We also were able to go visit Great Grandma Benner and make a stop at Bronners Christmas Wonderland. We had a nice, but too quick, visit!

Love that Leah has not become bored with Amber- She still loves to help with her cares, especially holding her.

Leah is singing in the car to her favorite singer- Taylor Swift. That is Amber in the background near the end. She is competing for my attention already! She stopped as soon as I stopped the camera and started to talk to her.
And, speaking of Taylor...Leah gets to go to her concert tomorrow night. I am taking her. Joe is in the process of making her a t-shirt. I am so impressed...hopefully it will be enough to get her backstage!
