We went to Kaylee's 5th birthday party on Saturday. A beauty day- hair and nails followed by lunch at McDonalds. The girls (4 in all) had such a good time! Leah so loved to be pampered. She really is quite a girl!!

This morning I ran the Team Ortho Minneapolis Marathon (half marathon- 13.1miles). It was a great morning for a run. It did take a few hours to feel "normal" again, but I feel just great this evening. Finish time was 2 hrs 12 min and 43 secs. Not great, but not bad for only deciding to do this crazy thing just 5 weeks ago!

0pening weekend at CABIN!! :)

Highlights from Memorial Weekend, or Opening weekend at the CABIN!

  • Joined by the Virginia, MN Palazzari's who are always so much fun to have around!

  • Visit from the Schweigher's which was also very fun! Can't believe how nice those boys have turned out (can't be the influence of Aunt Vicky--hehehe)! Good luck to Cousin Jim as he starts the next phase of his life as a working man in Baltimore!

  • LEAH loves the boat. She was anxious to ride and play on the boat! A huge change from years past where she had to be bribed to get on the boat.

  • The kids playing in the mud/sand with each other and the neighbor girls

  • The kids playing in the water (mind you, it is northern MN and the water is frigid- the ice just came off of the lake in mid April)
  • Leah falls off of the dock as she "feeds the fish" with Thea. Let me explain- they filled up a large sand bucket with mud, the proceeded onto the dock (with life jackets on). With their shovels, they were tossing mud into the lake and "feeding the fish. Leah decided to take the entire bucket and try to dump it into the lake, but it was heavy, so it took her with it! She went in head first and came up laughing. Boy, do I wish I was recording this moment!

  • LOTS of food!
  • Fishing
  • Bonfire and smores (yummy). Leah still prefers her smore ingredients separately with the Marshmallow uncooked!

  • Great weather Saturday and Sunday, fair weather on Monday

  • Joe gets to golf 2 days in a row!
  • TIRED kids who slept the entire ride home

In other news--Joe developed pneumonia! Crazy. He is doing better now that he got some drugs, but still not 100%!

Can you believe it? Little Miss Delila turned one last Saturday (May 16). Wow, does time fly! She is a walking machine now. Dan and Tiffanie had a nice, small gathering of family (plus one neighbor) to celebrate her big day. She, as always, was delightful!

Atlanta = Leah's first plane ride

We had such a great time visiting my Aunt Susan, Uncle Joel, Cousin Emily and Erik and their girls Anna (5 1/2) and Taylor (3 1/2). Cousin Jenny even joined us for a couple of days. It was so fun, and too short! The girls had such a fantastic time together especially the two peas in a pod- Miss Leah and Miss Taylor. They became such great buddies. With only 5 months separation in age- they were great playmates. We spent some time at the Aquarium, the Zoo, and the park. Of course, it was nice to just catch up and spend some time with family. It's too bad that they are so far away. Leah is already asking when we can go to see them again.

Leah loved the airplane ride. She was a great traveler. She was fascinated with the plane and watching them at the airport. She loved being above the clouds. The only time she fussed was when she was told that she would have to put "baby" in the tub to go through security- I don't think she realized that she would get "baby" right back. She also was very confused about the idea of the rental car- and kept asking who's car we were taking! Of course, our always curious Leah had question after question to ask while she took in this great new experience.

I have lots to catch up on at home, but, hopefully, I will have time to get pictures up this weekend.

A Beautiful Deck

Joe and my Dad spent April 27-May 4 building our deck. They got some help from my brother, Dan and our friend, Rick, and Leah provided some refreshments and even helped Dan with the drill! Thanks to all who helped- the deck looks great, and I can't wait to break it in. Since we have been out of town we still have not used it, but that will change this weekend- weather providing!
