Weekend of Birthday Celebrations

Saturday was my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday Mom-- Thanks for all you do for us. You are super!:) We went out to a great Italian restaurant to celebrate my mom's and my brother's birthdays.
Sunday we spent at the birthday party's of two fabulous 3 year olds-- Morgan and Thea.
We went to Morgan's Party first. It was at the Cambridge Fire Hall where her dad is a volunteer firefighter. The kids had a blast jumping on a rented jumper, climbing up on a rig and taking a ride in the fire truck. Leah had a great time!

Then, it was off to Dan and Tiff's to celebrate Thea's Birthday. Tiffanie had some great art projects planned, and the kids got to break a pinata- what fun. They all had a great time.

Updates

Update on Leah's wrist-- much better, no splint and no complaints of pain! But she did ask once the splint was removed..."When do I get to get rid of my glasses?" Sorry, but never (okay, maybe someday if she has Lasik).

Update on her eyes--had an eye exam last week and her right eye is functioning better, but not as good as we want it- so, another month of patching everyday.

Update on swimming---LOVES IT! Here are some pictures and videos from her last class.

Leah and her Coach- Eddy

Congrats to our niece, Nikki, who is expecting a baby girl in May. Leah and I went to her baby shower yesterday.

Leaning Tower of Snowman

It is a gorgeous MN day today- for the winter anyway! We took advantage of that and spent the morning outside. Even though we live in the land of snow- we have not had decent snowman snow all year...this is the first snowman of the season. I thought Leah would be into helping with the construction, but I was wrong. She really didn't want much to do with the snowman, but she did eventually like the finished product. I am not an architect which is obvious in the construction of this snowman-

HE IS LEANING. Unlike his predecessor, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, he did not withstand the forces of nature...

And, shortly after his construction, a gust of wind took him down!

Little Trooper

I love this picture of Leah, "Baby" and her Bitty Baby ("Dolly") that I was able to get yesterday morning. She is occasionally sitting well for me when I want to take a picture!

Yesterday we had a great time with My mom, Tiffanie, Delila and Thea. We met for lunch then headed to the Children's Museum. The girls were having a great time...

Then, Leah had a slip and fall while playing in the Toddler Room of all places! She wasn't even doing anything wrong! She slipped as she was trying to sit down on the slide. She cried, but I have to admit I shoved it off at first. I know, horrible mom. She kept complaining about her hand/wrist, but, still, I just comforted her not really thinking much of it. It wasn't until she started crying during SWIMMING! She loves swimming, so this was definitely a red flag. Off to Urgent Care we went- to learn that she had a greenstick fracture of her radius near the wrist. The doctor told me that she could just be in an wrap for about 10 days. This morning that wrap was a mess, so I decided to try to find a pediatric splint which did not work. Luckily, the OT at work was able to make Leah a splint (I went and picked her up at lunch- a perk to school being so close)! I have to say Leah has been such a trooper over the last month- glasses, patches, doctors, fractures, and too small of shoes (yup they grew 1.5 sizes in 3 months- took me a bit off guard)!

This morning this is how I had to bring Leah to school.

And, tonight, just before bed showing off her blue splint!

This and That

We have had a few fun playdates over the last week. Last Sunday (2/22) we met my friend, Stacy, and her two adorable kids, Alex and Kendra at Adventure Park. The kids, of course, had a great time, and it was fun to catch up with Stacy!

Yesterday we headed to the Mall of America's Nickelodeon Universe. Leah and I were joined by Sara and Michael and Jody and Morgan. The kids had a blast and were so worn out at the end of the day!

For the most part, Leah is doing so well with her new glasses. She even told me today that she can see with her glasses on, but that she can't see with them off! She is also doing well wearing her patch (minus a few days- but I can say with experience that it is very uncomfortable- I had to wear it with her for a few days!). Here is a video of her singing while she passes time wearing her patch. Introducing Leah Benner singing Tayor Swift's "Picture to Burn."

This week, Leah and I are all by ourself as Joe is out of town for work!

And, I will leave with what Leah told me today at dinner...

"Ya know what...When I get taller, I can go to work all by myself, and ya know what...when I get taller, I can stay home all by myselft."
