On Saturday (after working 1 hour- yes, I had to go in for 1 patient), I met some friends at Archiver's to scrapbook. We had a great time and got a lot accomplished. I am proud to say that except for 1 page in both books, I have completed 2007 (Leah's book and the Family book). I wanted to be completed with 2007 by October, so I think I can say I made my goal. Very exciting- now I can start 2008 while it is still 2008!
Leah got to spend quality time with Grandma Mary Friday night and Saturday. Leah wanted a sleepover. They went to Target (Leah's fav store), made cookies, went to McDonald's, etc. It seemed that Leah had a very good time. Thanks Mary!
Joe headed up to the cabin on Saturday to help with the dock/lift/boat removal. Such a sad time of the year! It means we are one step closer to cold weather and ice. Ugh.

Weekend Fun
We had quite a fun weekend. A playdate at our house Saturday morning with a couple of co-workers and their girls. They all played so great together and the weather was gorgeous.
Later Saturday, Joe and I went out to celebrate our friend Rick's Birthday. We ate at Fogo De Chao. It was very good.
Sunday, Leah and I met Jaclyn, her daughter, Kaylee, her niece, Adeline, and Jaclyn's Mom at the Minneapolis Children's Theatre where we saw "Madeline and the Gypsies." It was a good production. I was so worried that Leah wouldn't sit through the show, that I did not even think that she would be frightened. But, that is my cautious Leah. Yes, when the lights went out at the start of the show, Leah immediately started to shake and asked to go home. She was frightened by some of the costumes, especially the lion and the elephant (to us it was obvious that 2 humans were in the Lion costume, and 1 in the elephant, but that is not the case with this 3 year old). She watched the entire first half sometimes hiding her face in my chest and asking when it would be done. Then towards the end of the first half, she started to get into the show. After intermission, however, she did not want to return- she was afraid of the Lion. I kept explaining to her that it was just a costume, but I don't think she understood- that is until the 2nd half. About 5 minutes into the 2nd half, they showed Madeline getting into the Lion costume, and it was an "ah ha" moment for Leah. I think then she finally understood what it meant for someone to be IN a costume. From that point on, she loved the show. When it was over, she didn't want to leave. I am so glad that I took her.
Leah made this Owl mask at school today. I thought she did such a nice job that I had to take a picture. She was even going around the house making owl sounds. Adorable!

Play Date
Leah and I had such a fun day yesterday. We met Tiff, Thea and Delila at a park where Leah and Thea played, then to lunch where my Mom joined us, then to some shoe shopping, then to ice cream (yum), then finally to swimming. It's fun to get the girls together. Leah enjoys playing with Thea, and she is absolutely fascinated with Delila. Needless to say, Leah was TIRED. I don't think she moved positions the entire night! I even had to wake her up this morning (a very RARE occurrence). Once awake, she said, "I don't want to get dressed yet, I'm still tired." Break my heart!

Swimming
Leah had a great time at swimming yesterday. She had no trouble with her new coach- another "boy", Eddie. A nice young man who seems like a great coach. This should be another good session- only two girls- both similar in skill. Leah even swam a little by herself! Exciting for us to watch and she was very proud of herself.
A "Leahism"
A "Leahism"
So, a few weeks ago, Leah and I were at Borders Bookstore. She spied a cupcake kit and loved it. I told her that she could put it on her Christmas list. To this she replied,
"but, I don't like Santa"

I wish everyday was Tuesday
It is so nice to have Tuesdays off. I get to spend time with Leah and I usually get something done while she is taking a nap. It does make me wish that I was able to stay home with her everyday, but maybe I wouldn't appreciate the day I do have as much!
Swimming class starts this afternoon, and Leah has been wearing her swimsuit all day. I guess someone is excited. After all the fuss she put up with having Ryan as a coach last session, she is now telling us that she is going to go swimming with Ryan. I have no idea who her coach is this session, so I hope she is not disappointed!
Happy Tuesday!
We had a nice weekend. We went to Como Zoo where we met up with a my High School friend, Greg and his family. He has two adorable little girls, one that is only a few months older than Leah! We had a nice time, and it was fun to catch up with an "old" friend.
Leah played a few games at Como Town after our friends had to leave. She won herself this guitar with NO help from mommy or daddy! She loves it! She has been "playing" it while singing into her microphone.
Happy Tuesday!

Invaded
Leah and I headed up to the cabin with my parents this weekend for some R&R. Which we had- weather was good but the wind was bad. No boating because of the waves and little swimming because the waves were knocking Leah over! We had a nice day with Uncle Steve, Aunt Linda and Cousin Kris and Nico. Joe stayed home to check off items on his list (which is not entirely a "honey do list" as he as added items to it)!
On Sunday evening around 10pm he called to tell me - our 4-wheeler has been stolen! It just makes you sick to your stomach. You feel invaded. We kept it covered next to our garage- without the keys. So, the perp(s) must have dislodged the brake and pushed it somewhere! Joe discovered it missing as he was trying to chase a rodent out of our garage (he was successful this morning). It really is sad that we live in a society where people just don't work hard and purchase their own stuff- instead some feel it their right to take from others. It stinks. We didn't have many miles on it, but it was useful to us, and Leah loved to take short rides through the yard on it. Luckily I snapped this picture just a few weeks ago!
On a happier note, Congrats to my cousin Jim on his engagement to his girlfriend, Sam.
Hope you all had a good and a safe Labor Day weekend.
