So, my parents watched Leah on Monday night while Joe and I went to the MN State Fair to see Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert. We had a great time. The next day, my mom told me of this conversation that she had with Leah which was initiated by Leah and came out of nowhere.
Leah: Why are there boys and girls
Nonna: To make life interesting
Leah: How did Delila get out of Tiffanie's Tummy?
Nonna: By surgery because she was so big
Leah: How did I get into my mom's tummy?
Nonna: You grew in your mommy's tummy
So, my mom did a great job answering these questions (thanks, mom), but I think that I would have froze and said something like "let's play with the puzzle now." So, I wonder how others have answered such questions as I want to be prepared when these questions are asked of me!

Happy Birthday Michael
Last Sunday, Leah and I went "My Michael's" birthday party. Michael turned 4, he is our neighbor down the road. Leah and Michael have become buddies, and she often refers to him as "My Michael." It is nice to have a close playmate for Leah, and even better is that they truly seem to enjoy playing with each other!
This weekend, Leah is up at the cabin with my parents. Dan, Tiff, Thea and Delila are also there. I am sure she is just having a great time. It does seem a bit quite around the house, but it did give Joe and I the opportunity to have an adult gathering last night for the Bristol Nascar Race. It is nice from time to time to have adult company! Thanks Mom and Dad!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I love my haircut!
Today was a big day for Leah. We got her haircut. Really, her first haircut of any significance. She has had 2 trims in the past, but this time, we took about 8.5 inches! She told me "I love my haircut" as we left the salon. I did get a little worried when she told me that she wanted her "ponies" back. I then realized as she talked that she meant her ponytail HOLDERS! I let her pick out some headbands at Target and all was fine!
We will be donating her hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths which makes and provides wigs to women with Breast Cancer.

Addendum
addendum to last post: Suzy's husband, Nate, couldn't make it up to the cabin last weekend. You were misses (especially by Joe). We hope you are surviving your busy week at work!

Fun times
Last Tuesday, Leah and I went to Como Zoo along with our neighbors Sara (mom) and Michael (age 3-soon to be 4). We had a great time even though it had to be one of the hottest days of the summer. I will NOT complain about the temperature because we have had such cold weather in general this year. Now, back to the ZOO. Leah had a great time as always- she loves seeing the animals. This time (as during our last visit), she was most fascinated by "Sparky" the sea lion and his show. This time, she even liked seeing the larger animals up close (lions and gorillas)- on our last visit, she preferred "Leah size" animals. Leah and Michael also went on a few rides at Como Town. This was also a first for Leah as she never wanted to go on the rides. My baby is growing up!
We had a nice weekend at the cabin. Our friends, Beth and Suzy, braved the long drive (a little longer for Beth) to come and enjoy some cabin time with us. Thanks for coming, we had a great time. Leah had such fun swimming in the lake on Saturday along with the girls from next door (age 8 and age 5).
My mom is still recoverying from those lousy burns. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!
